Small caliber thick wall seamless steel pipe

Jul 12, 2018

The small diameter thick wall seamless pipe is the steel pipe with small outer diameter and wall thickness. The smallest diameter can reach 3mm at present, and the wall thickness is minimum to 1mm..

Weight formula for small caliber thick wall seamless steel tube: [outer diameter wall thickness * wall thickness]*0.02466=kg/ m (weight per meter)

They are mainly used for petroleum geology drilling pipes, cracking pipes, boiler tubes, bearing pipes for petrochemical industry, and high-precision structural tubes for automobiles, tractors and aviation.

Small diameter thick walled seamless steel pipe materials include: 10# and 20#. 25#, 35#, 45#, 16Mn and so on.

Production process flow of circular tube billet, heating, perforation, three roll skew rolling, continuous rolling or extrusion, stripping, sizing (or reducing diameter), cooling, straightening, water pressure test (or flaw detection), marking, and warehousing

According to the different methods of production, it can be divided into hot rolling tube, cold rolling tube, cold drawing tube, extruding tube and so on. The hot rolled seamless tube is usually produced on the automatic pipe mill. The solid tube blank is checked and removed the required length of the surface defect, and the core is fixed on the end face of the tube blank and then sent to the reheating furnace to perforate the perforation machine. Under the action of the roll and the head, the inner wall of the tube is gradually formed into a cavity called the capillary tube, and the continuous rolling on the automatic pipe mill will be all the whole wall thick and the diameter of the mill is fixed, and the continuous rolling pipe mill is a more advanced method to produce hot rolled seamless steel tubes. For a seamless tube with smaller size and better quality, cold rolling, cold rolling, or both, must be used in a cold rolling process, usually on a two roll mill, which is rolled in a circular hole consisting of a cross section slot and a non moving conical head, and cold drawing is usually extruded on a single or double chain cold drawing machine. The forthcoming tube is placed in a closed extruded cylinder with a perforated rod and a extruded rod moving together to squeeze the extrusion parts from smaller die holes. This method can produce small diameter steel pipes.
